How to store wine at home
You do not need a cellar. You need an even temperature, darkness and a spot where the bottle does not vibrate.
Steadiness beats degrees
What harms wine most is temperature swinging, not a couple of degrees of warmth. A cupboard in a cool room beats the top shelf in the kitchen.
Keep bottles in the dark — direct sunlight ages wine quickly and irreversibly.
Standing or lying down?
Keep corked bottles lying down so the cork does not dry out. For screw caps it makes no difference.
